Your child can be referred to this clinic by a GP of hospital specialist.

This is a clinic to assess and treat babies, children and young people from 0-16years of age with joint pain, following injury, surgery or assess alignment/ developmental concerns.

Before your appointment
Please bring shorts and appropriate clothing depending on why you are coming. Please bring your child’s red book if appropriate. Any child under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility.

During your appointment
You will be seen by one of our musculoskeletal physiotherapists. Please note that as we are a teaching hospital you may also be seen by a student physiotherapist.Your physiotherapist will talk to you to find out more about your problem. Your child will be assessed and you may be given advice and/or exercises. Your appointment will take 30 - 40 minutes.

After your appointment
Your physiotherapist will let you know if you need further appointments and they will arrange those directly with you.

Your child can be referred to this clinic by one of our neurology consultants.

This is a specialist clinic for children with neuromuscular conditions such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy.

Your child will be seen in this clinic if they have been referred by a GP to the orthopaedic service.

At this clinic a specialist orthopaedic physiotherapist will assess your child and advise on management including referral for treatment.

If needed, your child may been seen by an orthopaedic consultant on the same day.

Your child will be seen in this clinic following a referral from one of our consultants.

At this clinic orthotists from John Florence Paediatric Orthotic Centre assess children who need custom-made orthoses.

Your child can be referred to this clinic by a GP, consultant or local physiotherapist.

This clinic is for children with congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV or clubfoot). We see children from birth onwards and may begin treatment for your child when they are one week old. We also treat older children.

We also provide antenatal counselling to inform you about treatment if your baby's diagnosis is made following your 20-week scan.

Physiotherapists are Ponseti trained and are supported by a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Daniel Reed.

At this clinic your child may be seen for:

specialist assessment, advice and treatment on difficulties with your child's movement, especially walking
planning treatments and management of movement difficulties, including helping you to understand your child's movement abilities
botulinum toxin A management and treatment.

Your child can be referred to this clinic by your local physiotherapist or paediatrician, or following orthopaedic surgery at our hospital.

At this clinic your child may be seen for:

removal or change of a plaster cast after orthopaedic surgery
review of a physiotherapy programme after surgery and assessment of outcomes
to get a specialist opinion on physiotherapy management for children with a neurodisability such as cerebral palsy or spina bifida
follow-up appointment from an orthopaedic clinic.

Your child will be seen in this clinic following a referral from either our respiratory or palliative care services.

At this clinic your child will have an assessment and then a plan will be created to help optimise respiratory function. Plans may include:

exercise advice
secretion management advice
being taught manual airway clearance techniques such as percussion
assessment and provision of airway clearance devices if appropriate
24 hour positioning advice to aid respiratory lung function.

Your child will be seen in this clinic following a referral from your GP or local clinician to the spinal surgery service.

This is a clinic for advice and management of their spine, including referral for further treatment if necessary.

We also run clinics with other healthcare professionals. Your child may be seen in one of these clinics after being referred to a specialist team by a GP or another hospital consultant.
