Evelina London is part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. We are the second largest provider of children’s services in London. Evelina London is more than just a hospital, it encompasses all the children and young people we care for within our network and in the community, we are proud to be one big family. With a stunning purpose-built building on the St Thomas’site, our hospital includes:

  • 215 inpatient beds, 30 intensive care beds
  • 46-cot neonatal unit
  • Emergency department
  • 5 dedicated operating theatres, plus 1 cardiac theatre in St Thomas’
  • Full children’s imaging service with MRI scanner, X-ray and ultrasound
  • Kidney dialysis unit
  • Outpatients department and a medical day care unit
  • Hospital school

We also provide care at Royal Brompton Hospital, including specialist children’s services for heart and lung conditions.

Evelina London Children's Hospital doesn’t feel like a hospital

With themed floors, an atrium, rooms with views, sunlight and fresh air, Evelina London Children’s Hospital was designed around the needs of children and their families. It’s a seven-storey building, featuring a four-storey glass atrium and dramatic views of Lambeth Palace and Archbishop’s Park. The inpatient wards overlook the atrium, the social heart of the building, housing a coffee shop, hot desk area for staff, performance space and the Evelina Hospital School.

Accommodation

We are pleased to be able to offer accommodation for staff at all of our hospital sites. We do our best to offer accommodation to everyone that asks, however at certain times of the year, there may be a waiting list. If so, we will help you find alternative accommodation with support from our local housing partners.

A variety of options including, single bedrooms in shared flats, studio flats and 2 bedroomed flats are offered on a maximum one year contract, with prices starting at £800 a month.

Our locations

Situated in the heart of London, with excellent transport links, Evelina London Children's Hospital is within walking distance of London’s vibrant Southbank with a range of restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars.

The Southbank has the advantage of being home to many of London’s well known attractions such as the Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Sea-Life Aquarium, Royal Festival Hall, London Dungeon, The Old Vic, London Film Museum, Jubilee Gardens and the London Eye, to name but a few.

The Southbank plays host to a multitude of events, festivals and displays, as well as local markets and craft stalls.

Sports events, especially running, walking or cycling, play a big part of life on the Southbank as well as the regular buskers and street performers who make it a lively and vibrant place to be.

We also provide specialist inpatient and outpatient children’s services for heart and lung conditions at Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea and outpatient services at Harefield Hospital near Uxbridge.

The Royal Brompton Hospital is situated in Chelsea. The area is well served by the London Underground and bus routes.

Our community services are based at two main health centres: Mary Sheridan Centre in Lambeth and Sunshine House in Southwark but we provide care in many more across Lambeth and Southwark.
