If your child has been referred to us, we'll arrange to see them in the plastic surgery outpatient clinic.
Changing or cancelling your appointment
If you need to change or cancel your child’s appointment for any reason, please call us Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm:
- clinic clerk: 020 7185 0389
- reception: 020 7188 4514 and 020 7188 4516
- appointments: 020 7188 4000
Outside of these hours, please email paediatricappointmentsplastics@gstt.nhs.uk.
Please tell us as soon as possible so we can offer the appointment to another patient.
Before your appointment
Please bring:
- any medicines that your child is taking
- copies of any prescriptions
For an outpatient appointment, your child does not need to stop eating or drinking (fast). If your child is admitted, their consultant and a pre-assessment nurse will explain if they need to fast and give you any other relevant information.
During your appointment
You and your child will see a consultant and a nurse at your appointment.
If your child is a new patient, a specialist registrar will take a detailed history and examine them before you see the consultant in the clinic.
Appointments usually last 15 to 20 minutes.
As we are a teaching hospital, students and visitors may be observing the team. We'll always ask your permission for them to observe your appointment.
After your appointment
After your appointment, we aim to send you a letter within 5 working days. We'll also send a copy of this letter to your GP, the referring doctor and any other clinicians or healthcare professionals involved in your child’s care.
The letter will have a contact number if you have any questions.
Day surgery
If your child needs day surgery, this may take place in the children's day surgery unit. If this is the case, it will say so in your admissions letter. Find out more about your child's visit to our children's day surgery unit.
More information can be found on our children's day surgery unit leaflets page.
