Gait laboratory

Assessing children with movement problems

The 'One Small Step Gait Laboratory' is an internationally-renowned centre based at Guy's Hospital. Our service analyses human movement using sophisticated technologies including 3D motion capture (the sort of technology that is used in the gaming and film industries).

We assess children with movement problems from the age of three years, and advise doctors and therapists on treatment strategies. We work closely with the orthopaedic service and the movement service at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

For more information about what to expect from your child's visit to the gait laboratory, see our gait analysis clinic page.

If you are a health professional wanting to refer a patient, see our gait laboratory referrals page.

This service is accredited by the Clinical Movement Analysis Society of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

  • monitoring hip dysplasia in cerebral palsy with 3D ultrasound
  • morphological and mobility assessment of the scoliosis curve using 3D ultrasound
  • GameAble
