The British Medical Association (BMA) has confirmed that its junior doctor members have voted to take industrial action. This means that like other health services nationally, some Evelina London services in the hospital and in the community will be affected.

Junior doctors will provide emergency care only from 8am on Wednesday 10 February to 8am on Thursday 11 February. We will be running all emergency services during this time. Consultants and other staff will be helping in other areas to ensure the safety of children who are in the hospital already or arrive in need of our services.

Some scheduled activity will be unaffected as the operations or clinics are delivered by our consultants and other specialist staff, like therapists. However, some non-urgent appointments and procedures will be cancelled and rescheduled.

Dr Sara Hanna, Medical Director, Evelina London says: “The safety of our patients is our priority in making decisions about which services we are able to run on the days when there is industrial action planned.

“We will be in touch with families who have an appointment which will be affected and will rearrange this as soon as possible. Unless you are contacted, please attend your appointment as normal.”
