How do I get an appointment?

You can be referred by your health professional at Evelina London.

Before your appointment

Please send us any recent reports about your child's health and development from other services or health professionals.

We may send a questionnaire to you and someone at your child's school to complete before your appointment. This will help us make decisions about your child's treatment.

Your appointment may be virtual or face-to-face. If it is virtual, please send us recent recordings of your child's height, weight, blood pressure and pulse (you can ask your child's GP or school nurse for these).

During your appointment

You and your child will usually see a doctor and a nurse. There may be new staff or students observing the clinic but we'll always ask for your permission for them to observe your appointment.

Your appointment will last about 45 minutes. You can arrange to speak with your allocated nurse before the appointment if you think you may need more time to explain any changes.

The clinic has another room attached to it and it is common for the doctor or nurse to speak to you or your child separately. You or your child can ask for this if you want to share anything privately.

You can let us know if you or your child need to have a break during the appointment.

After your appointment

At the end of your appointment we'll let you know what will happen next. We may:

  • offer you another appointment to check your child's health or to give you advice about their behaviour
  • visit your child's school
  • work with other professionals who care for your child

If you need to get in touch with us for advice or give an update on your child's condition, please contact your assigned nurse specialist.

Please contact your consultant's secretary if you need help with:

  • letters
  • shared care agreements
  • your child's prescription (if your question is not medical)
