Infectious diseases and immunology referrals

Who can refer

Children are normally referred to the children’s infectious diseases and immunology service by their GP. Some children are referred to us from other hospitals or from other services at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

How to refer

GP referrals

All NHS GP referrals must be submitted using the NHS e-Referral Service using these details:

  • Speciality: Children's and adolescent services
  • Clinic type:
    • Immunology
    • Other medical
  • Service name: Children's infectious diseases and immunology (PIID)  – not allergy

Referrals sent to the nhs.net mailbox or by post from GPs will not be processed.

Referrals from other health professionals

Other health professionals should send a referral letter by post or email using the details in the referral contacts box on this page.

Emergency referrals

Emergency referrals about children's infections or concerns about their immune system should be made through the 24 hour general paediatrics service by calling 020 7188 7188 and asking for the general paediatric registrar, bleep 0339 .
