About the facial nerve service
The facial nerve service helps patients with facial weakness and disorders of the facial nerve.
The service is provided by a team of facial therapists, ear nose and throat (ENT)/skull base surgeons and plastic surgeons.
We help to manage the cause of the problem, and develop an appropriate treatment plan for your child to make the most of their existing facial function or reanimate the face.
We offer a full range of reconstructive procedures and facial physiotherapy.
How do I get an appointment?
We accept referrals from GPs; however many patients are referred by other hospital doctors and from physiotherapists.
Changing or cancelling your appointment
To cancel or change an appointment, please call our appointments line on 020 7188 4000.
What to expect at your appointment
Your child's first appointment is usually with a team of three to four doctors and facial therapists.
You and your child will be asked to fill in some questionnaires on arrival. A video record may also be made of your child's facial nerve function.
The whole process may take up to two hours.
