Halkawt is a qualified congenital cardiac surgeon, having completed 7 years residency in cardiac (heart) surgery in Italy and 2 clinical fellowships in congenital cardiac surgery in the United States. He holds a current full registration as a specialist doctor in Italy and the United Kingdom. He has been a consultant since 2017.
He performs a different variety of congenital cardiac procedures including palliative and corrective procedures from newborns to adults with congenital heart disease.
