The continence nursing team provides assessment, care and support to children and young people with complex needs who have continence issues
This may include provision of continence products where appropriate. Where appropriate, the team will explore toilet training with families and carers.
Our working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday-Friday.
What to expect at an appointment
Our appointments are approximately 45 minutes. The first appointment will usually be face to face. This could be at your child’s school or one of our local health centres (listed below). Where appropriate, home visits may be carried out.
Follow-up appointments will be likely be carried out face to face but may be done virtually or by telephone. A parent or carer should attend appointments with the child or young person.
You may be requested to complete a bladder and bowel diary and questionnaire ahead of your appointment. Please ensure this is completed prior to your appointment and bring it with you.

Who is our service for?
Children and young people (5-18 years) registered with a GP in Lambeth and Southwark who have complex needs and meet the eligibility criteria.
How to make a referral
Any child or young person can be referred to the service by a healthcare professional such as a GP, school nurse or health visitor providing they meet the eligibility criteria. Please note families or carers cannot self-refer.
